Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 is a dynamic and progressive organization providing educational and related services to schools and districts in a four county area of Central Pennsylvania. With offices and programs in Bedford, Blair, Cambria and Somerset counties, IU 8 serves more than 30 districts and thousands of students.
The Administrative and Teaching Staff of the Early Intervention Program have used the IEP Assistant since its first availability in 2002. Key to this decision was the ability of the IEP Assistant to function in both network-based and standalone modes. Internet access has also become a key capability. Over the years, numerous therapists have been added to the list of IEP Assistant users. Most recently, upon completion of an extensive pilot test, School Age teachers are also utilizing the IEP Assistant and internet access is being made available to all staff members. In addition to our work on the IEP Assistant, Heurix has also been entrusted with the development of several custom built intra-office applications for use by IU 8 staff. We at Heurix, are proud of our ability to deliver needed solutions and appreciate the long-term relationship we have established with IU 8.

The Bellwood-Antis School District is our first IEP Assistant user site! Working closely with the Bellwood-Antis School District staff, Heurix has created what we believe to be the most up-to-date, easiest to use software for the Pennsylvania Special Education teacher.
In conjunction with Bellwood-Antis and other leaders in the special education community, and with frequent reviews by numerous consulting teachers, Heurix is proud to have created a software package being hailed for its ability to bring consistency to the IEP process, add quality to the education of students and reduce the time teachers must spend completing state-mandated paper work. The Chestnut Ridge School District, in May of 2003, approved the implementation of the IEP Assistant for use in their School Age Special Education and Gifted Education Programs.
Intended for use by Administrators, Psycholgists, Teaching and Therapy Staff members, the IEP Assistant will integrate each involved discipline into a cohesive team dedicated to the fulfilling the uniquely identified needs of each student. Implementing on their wide area network, staff at each location will have immediate access to the most current documentation of each child.
Teamed with the Northern Bedford County School District, the Chestnut Ridge School District is working to develop the most detailed standards-based Goal and Objective library we've yet seen!

The Claysburg-Kimmel School District has chosen the IEP Assistant for use in their School Age Special Education and Gifted Education Programs.

The Conemaugh Valley School District has joined the Heurix family, implementing the IEP Assistant on the two separate District networks with a later addition of internet access and consolidation into a single database during the Summer of 2005. Teachers and staff will utilize both School Age and Gifted components. Initially installing Version 2.06.09, users will take advantage of the latest IEP Assistant features available to both teachers and administrators. The Hollidaysburg Area School District has chosen the IEP Assistant for use in their School Age Special Education and Gifted Education Programs.

The Northern Bedford County School District has selected the IEP Assistant for use in their School Age Special Education and Gifted Education Programs.
Implementing the IEP Assistant on their campus network, NBCSD has joined forces with Chestnut Ridge to create a unique and detailed Goal and Objectives library tied individually to the published Standards documentation. Their detailed work will result in some of the most Student-specific IEP documents we've seen to date. Developing each IEP with clear direction taken from individual PSSA results, will the generate student goals addressing the most productive and essential curriculum components for each child.

Implementing on an 802.11 Wireless Network, students will learn and practice the interactions between peers and other involved specialists. The Southern Fulton School District has selected the IEP Assistant for use in their School Age and Gifted programs. This implementation is on a Microsoft Windows NT network utilizing a mixture of wired and wireless clients. Southern Fulton plans to be among the first to implement the new Access Service Logs and Submission component.

The Tussey Mountain School District has selected the IEP Assistant for use in their School Age Special Education and Gifted Education Programs. Replacing an existing product, Tussey Mountain will be the first IEP Assistant user to install using only the internet for its access medium.
Installation will be to a central server and use internet access exclusively, with no software installation on client systems. The Tussey Mountain School District has chosen the IEP Assistant to relieve some of the burden placed on the administrative and teaching staff. Consolidating many of the functions and much of the data collected into a single database and product will help to streamline many of the necessary tasks of Special and Gifted Education. LTV-Copperweld Corporation is yet another industry leader who chose Heurix to assist in the final development and deployment of an internal software application. LTV-Copperweld is using the Dynasty Development Environment to produce a portable, scalable, n-tier client-server application utilizing C/C++ and Tuxedo to connect x86 clients with Tandem servers. New and Used Car Store, Inc. is a local business providing Auto Auction Inventory and Sale Management to Dealers and Auction Facilities. The software is delivered over the internet using an ASP model. Future developments will soon see an aggregated sale website offering vehicle and sale searches to buyers nationwide. New and Used Car Store is currently marketing in Pennsylvania with a plan in place to expand into the national market. The Visiting Nurse Service of Rochester and Monroe County, Inc. is a large Home Health Care provider based in Rochester, New York. VNS and its sister agency, Community Care of Rochester provide over six hundred thousand visits annually, striving to improve the lives and health of the members of their community. VNS is recognized as a progressive and influential member of the Home Health Care community.
Heurix has designed and built a prototype of a consolidated personnel scheduling application. This prototype will serve as a discovery and evaluation tool to be used during future scheduling software evaluations. We are particularly pleased and proud to play a role in the operation and success of such an organization.
